With the arrival of the Season 2 update, the RAM-7 has experienced a significant nerf. This change has caused the Warzone's player base to shift towards using a new and unexpected Assault Rifle.
Previously, after the January 17 Season 1 Reloaded update, both experienced and casual Warzone players thought that the battle royale’s meta had transformed. The choices for competitive selection became much more expansive and down to player preference, unlike in earlier seasons where there was a definitive go-to weapon.
RAM-7, introduced earlier in Season 1, was favored by a large number of the player base, but it wasn’t the only means to achieve victory. It was uniquely positioned as a popular choice among many, but it was not essential to winning the game.
The change of heart towards the RAM-7 in Season 2 came with the adjusted game mechanics. The developers dialed down Ram’s minimal and mid damage values by four and three points, respectively. These tweaks paved the way for a surprise new gun to emerge as the most popular choice among players.
The Unexpected Rise of SVA 545 in Season 2
Unsurprisingly, the recent nerf of RAM-7 has seen it to start leaving the top spot as the game’s favourite weapon choice. That said, it has not completely fallen out of favor in terms of the game's meta.
But the space left by RAM-7 has been filled by none other than SVA 545. Data from WZRanked reveals that the interest in SVA 545 has doubled since the alteration. It’s been at the receiving end of buffs and nerfs and rose to popularity circling approximately at 24%.
Moreover, the second-placed gun, the WSP-9, has also seen growth and is up to nearly 17% usage. This is an considerable increase from its previous figure. The popularity of these weapons has skyrocketed due to the recent changes in game balance.
The Sudden Popularity of SVA 545
The SVA has always been a competitive alternative for Warzone players. However, its recent status as the most popular weapon in the game marks a significant escalation.
Only time will tell if this is a long-term trend or a transient fad. But for the moment, the SVA 545 reigns supreme in the world of Warzone.
